PHEASANT SEASON
Are you ready?

5 tips for opening day success:

Tip #1) Scouting – It's not just for Deer Hunters!
Tip #2) Taking the time to PRACTICE your shot.
Tip #3) Get your pup refreshed! Game farms or planted pigeons offer a way to get your bird dog's nose tuned in to the game and you can practice the retrieve and handling before you head out to the field.
Tip #4) Check over your gear. From making sure you've got good laces in your boots, to double checking that your shotgun doesn’t still have those turkey choke tubes in it from last spring, and that your shell pouch has the correct bird shot.  From your clothing to a safety kit, be prepared.
What's tip #5? Find out - and get more great advice from Bob St. Pierre - HERE

Scientists believe that THIS feature on elk are remnants of saber-like tusks that ancestral species of elk used in combat.

Many hunters save these as a memento of their hunt.

Do you know what they are? (Hint, it isn't their massive antlers!)

Our friends at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation have put together some fun facts about elk that may surprise you.

Read More about these bugling, barking, chirping animals and find out the answer to the question!

If you read the article about elk, and know the answer to the question above - send the answer with your name and JPT member number and you could win a special prize! Send your answer here
