With lots of JPT members gearing up to head into the woods for the fall whitetail hunting season, we pulled up this video where JPT Coach and Virtual Mentor Brody Boese talks about the difference between a rub and a scrape that deer make during the fall season. Many hunters use the terms rub and scrape interchangeably. But the truth is, they are two different things. Each one serves a purpose in how whitetails communicate.

According to the National Deer Association’s 2023 Deer Report, 74% of deer hunters in this state hunt with bows or crossbows

Because of the size of the state, Texas boasts the highest number of deer hunters overall, but it is the Northeast region of the United States has the highest number of deer hunters per square mile (8), with Pennsylvania leading the nation at 14.4 deer hunters per square mile

Michigan deer hunters led the nation in buck harvest per square mile according to the National Deer Association report. BUT there is another state that looks to surpass Michigan. Do you have any guesses which state it could be?

ALERT - if you are a small game hunter, especially in PA, there is an important think you should be aware of! The Pennsylvania Game Commission is asking hunters to keep an eye out for evidence of rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus 2 (RHDV2), which is rapidly spreading in the West and threatening to move eastward. The agency wants to hear from hunters and anyone who sees two or more rabbits or hares in one spot dead from no apparent cause.
