March means we're headed into that time of year when we transition from rabbit and squirrel hunting, spring light goose season gets underway, and hunters are gearing up for spring turkey season.
Lakes and waterways will be breaking up, and anglers have open water fishing on their minds.
It's also the time to build and install your Wood Duck Nesting Boxes! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wa4wF2SrVmg

Using a turkey call correctly is a skill that you need to get plenty of practice with BEFORE the season kicks off.
Maybe you are more of a goose hunter than a turkey hunter? Perfecting your goose-calling technique is something you can work on now too! Our friends at Ducks Unlimited have put together Goose Calling 101 with 5 simple tips to get you started calling geese this season!
Goose Calling 101 | Ducks Unlimited
It is important to remember that even shed hunting or just scouting doesn't give you the right to go onto someone else's property. Since turkey season is just around the corner, NOW is a great time to find out who owns the land you are looking to gain access to, and respectfully ask permission. Remember that you may be approaching a landowner that has had negative experiences with hunters in the past, so if you are granted permission, you need to be an ethical, thoughtful user of that opportunity, and ALWAYS follow up to thank a landowner, even if you have not had a successful hunt!

And we want to remind you to check your local regulations on shed hunting. Some states have seasons for this!
